In continuation as a part of the agitation
program of OSOA, ASTO representative started the “HUNGER
STRIKE” since 0600 Hrs today 25.08.06 along with other
constituent members.

President CWC, Shri Rajan Pillai G S CWC, Shri Amit Kumar
President Delhi & Shri C R Das President Mumbai along
with Shri P N Pathak Jt Secretary ( Offshore , Mumbai). Also
seen in the picture above is Shri Ashok Singh , convener OSOA
( Right of Mr. Mirchandani, ASTO President, CWC) and other
leaders from the Petroleum Industry. Officers Associations
of BSNL, MTNL and BHEL have also extended support to the agitation
and more public sector officers associations are expected
to follow which will add to the momentum of the strike. Almost
500 officers have participated in the Mass Hunger strike.
In some of the Public sectors as a show of solidarity with
the OSOA, employees have en masse abstained from taking lunch
also.
OSOA is demanding periodic pay revisions
every five years; 100 per cent Dearness Allowance, neutralization
with effect from January 1, 1996; 50 per cent DA merger; and
immediate release of additional stagnation increments. The
association is also seeking an entry level salary of Rs 50,000
per month (from Rs 20,000 per month) for management trainees
and commensurate rise in emoluments at senior levels.
If the above demands are not met immediately, ASTO and other
constituents of OSOA are going ahead with their plan for indefinite
strike with effect from 5th of September 2006.
The participation in hunger strike by other
ASTO office bearers as well as ASTO members from Delhi was
also very encouraging.
