News Letter – 34

STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS ACHIEVED

Dear Friends,

We all are aware that the ASTO since December 2006 had been split into two groups because of major differences cropping up amongst the leaders. The situation was further aggravated with reconstitution of CWC and spate of series of expulsions of Sh. L.K. Mirchandani, President ASTO-CWC (2005-06) and Sh. C.R. Das, President ASTO Mumbai.

The unfortunate happenings of the past were discussed threadbare by all the ASTO CEC members during the Central Executive Council Meeting on 23rd and 24th September, 2007. CMD during his felicitation on 23rd September, 2007 also shared the challenges that ONGC is facing right now and the demand of the day is to have united approach by all the ongcians especially ASTO which has a major role to play for the organization and its growth.

All the CEC members discussed in detail the issues of last ten months. Keeping in mind the major challenges that ONGC has to face on the organization front as well as the forthcoming welfare issues all the members were of the opinion that we need to combine and unite the efforts that we keep making in our own silos. Further, President ASTO and General Secretary –CWC and Sh. C.R. Das made an emotional appeal to come together and work for furthering the cause of ONGC and the officer’s community. Sh. C.R. Das also regretted the events that have happened in the past and requested all the leaders to come together and work for the issues and challenges that ONGC is facing today especially the issue of hiving off 116 marginal fields from ONGC. Keeping all this in view the CEC decided to break the stalemate and also resolved to work together for the remaining period of the term.

The ASTO Delhi team bids farewell to Sanchita S. Barah, Secretary ASTO, Delhi and puts on record the valuable contribution that she has given to ASTO Delhi. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours and professional career.
